The CHBS is today above all a documentation centre on the history of Scouting and Guiding. The archives, documents and objects kept at the CHBS concern all Belgian Guide and Scout federations (FOS Open Scouting, Les Scouts (ex-FSC), GCB, SGP, Scouts en Gidsen Vlaanderen (ex-VVKSM)), including associations not recognised by the world scouting bodies (such as the Scouts of Europe).
Its aim is to promote a better understanding of the history and evolution of the Scout and Guide movements through the use of its resources in works, publications, as well as in exhibitions. While it maintains good relations with the Belgian Guide and Scout movements (active and former) and willingly collaborates with them in projects relating to their history, the CHBS is independent of them and conducts its historical research in an objective and rigorously scientific manner.
The CHBS would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts all the donors who have made it possible for it to move to Ixelles in good conditions.
